Eligibility Details
Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility requirements before applying:
- Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
- Applicants must possess outstanding sports achievements in the eligible sports disciplines mentioned in the official notification.
- For Direct Entry Havildar, candidates should have represented their State or India at the Junior/Senior National or International level, or they should have won a medal in the Khelo India Games, Khelo India Youth Games, or Khelo India University Games.
- For Direct Entry Naib Subedar, candidates should have achieved a higher level of sports excellence, such as winning medals in the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, Asian Championships, or World Cup, or represented India multiple times in these prestigious events.
- Only sports achievements earned on or after 01 April 2024 will be considered for this recruitment.
Salary Details
Selected candidates will receive salary and benefits according to the Army Pay Rules, 2017, the same as other regular serving personnel of the Indian Army. The pay depends on the rank offered after selection.
- Direct Entry Havildar: Pay Level-5 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix with a basic pay starting from ₹29,200 per month.
- Direct Entry Naib Subedar: Pay Level-6 in the 7th CPC Pay Matrix with a basic pay starting from ₹35,400 per month.
- In addition to the basic pay, selected candidates will receive Dearness Allowance (DA), Military Service Pay (where applicable), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and other admissible Army allowances as per government rules.
- Employees will also be entitled to medical facilities, CSD benefits, insurance cover, pensionary benefits (as applicable), ECHS benefits after retirement, travel concessions, and other service perks available to regular Indian Army personnel.
Age limit
The age of applicants will be calculated as per the date of enrolment prescribed by the Indian Army. Candidates must satisfy the following age criteria:
- Minimum Age: 17½ Years
- Maximum Age: 25 Years
- Candidates must have been born between 30 September 2001 and 01 October 2008 (both dates inclusive).
- The age limit is the same for both Direct Entry Havildar and Direct Entry Naib Subedar (Sports).
- Only unmarried male and female candidates who meet the prescribed age criteria are eligible to apply.
Application Fee
The Indian Army has not prescribed any application fee for this Sports Quota recruitment. Therefore, eligible candidates can submit their application without paying any registration or processing charges.

Selection Process
The Indian Army will conduct the selection process in multiple stages to shortlist the most deserving sportspersons. Candidates must qualify at every stage to move forward.
- Application Shortlisting: The Army Sports Control Board will shortlist candidates based on their sports achievements and performance records submitted with the application.
- Sports Trial (Skill Test): Shortlisted candidates will participate in sports-specific trials to assess their performance, skill level, fitness, and overall sporting ability.
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Candidates must qualify the prescribed physical fitness test as per Army standards. The test includes running and other physical tasks applicable to male and female candidates.
- Physical Standards Test (PST): Officials will verify the candidate’s height, weight, chest (where applicable), and other prescribed physical standards.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who qualify the trials and physical tests will undergo a detailed medical examination conducted by the Indian Army Medical Team to ensure they are medically fit for service.
- Document Verification: The Army will verify all original educational, identity, domicile, and sports achievement certificates submitted by the candidates.
- Final Merit List: Finally, the Indian Army will prepare the merit list based on sports performance, trial results, medical fitness, document verification, and the availability of vacancies in the respective sports disciplines.

How to Apply
Candidates must submit their application offline by following the steps given below:
- Visit the official Indian Army website and download the prescribed Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Application Form.
- Print the application form on A4-size paper and fill in all the required details carefully using the prescribed format.
- Attach self-attested copies of the required documents, including educational certificates, Aadhaar Card, sports achievement certificates, and other supporting documents mentioned in the notification.
- Affix a recent passport-size photograph and put your signature and thumb impression in the designated places.
- Place the completed application form along with all required documents in an envelope and send it only through Registered Post to the official address mentioned in the notification. Applications sent through Speed Post, courier, or any other mode will not be accepted.
