Eligibility Details
Candidates must meet the following educational requirements to apply for the NFR Apprentice Recruitment 2026:
- For All Trades (Except Medical Laboratory Technician):
- Must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board with at least 50% aggregate marks.
- Must possess a National Trade Certificate (NTC) or Provisional Trade Certificate in the relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.
- SC, ST, and PwBD candidates are exempted from the minimum 50% marks requirement in Class 10.
- For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology):
- Must have passed Class 12 (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB).
- Must have secured at least 50% marks in both Class 10 and Class 12.
- Candidates must hold all the required educational certificates on or before the notification date. Those awaiting their final results are not eligible to apply.
Salary Details
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend during the apprenticeship period according to the Apprentices Act and the latest government guidelines.
- 1st Year Stipend: ₹9,600 per month
- 2nd Year Stipend: ₹10,560 per month (where the apprenticeship curriculum provides a second-year exemption)
- 3rd Year Stipend: ₹11,040 per month (where applicable under the training rules)
Important Points:
- The stipend may be revised if the Government updates the apprenticeship rates.
- Apprentices are not eligible for regular Railway employee salary, allowances, or other service benefits during the training period.
- Hostel or accommodation facilities are not provided, so candidates must arrange their own stay during the apprenticeship.
Age limit
Candidates must satisfy the prescribed age criteria to be eligible for the NFR Apprentice Recruitment 2026.
- Minimum Age: 15 Years
- Maximum Age: 24 Years
- Age will be calculated as on: 19 August 2026 (last date of online application)

Selection Process
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will conduct the selection process through the following stages. Moreover, the Railway will not conduct any written examination or interview for this recruitment.
- Prepare the Merit List: First, NFR will prepare a merit list by calculating the average percentage of Class 10 (Matriculation) marks and ITI marks in the relevant trade.
- Evaluate Medical Laboratory Technician Candidates Separately: However, for Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology) posts, NFR will prepare the merit list by considering the average percentage of Class 10 and Class 12 (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) marks.
- Shortlist Candidates for Document Verification: Next, NFR will shortlist candidates up to 1.5 times the notified vacancies and invite them for Document Verification (DV).
- Verify Original Documents: During the DV process, the Railway will verify all original educational, category, identity, and other required certificates. Therefore, candidates must carry every prescribed document.
- Check Medical Fitness: After successful document verification, candidates must submit the prescribed Medical Fitness Certificate issued by an authorized Government medical officer.
- Publish the Final Selection List: Finally, NFR will release the final list of selected candidates and allot apprenticeship training according to the candidate’s merit, unit preference, trade preference, and category.
