Eligibility Details
RRB Group D 2026-27 recruitment will likely require candidates to meet the following educational qualifications:
- Candidates should have passed Class 10th (Matriculation) from a recognized board.
- Candidates may also need an ITI certificate for certain technical posts.
- A National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT may be accepted or required for specific posts.

Salary Details
RRB Group D employees receive a salary as per Pay Level 1 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The basic pay starts at ₹18,000 per month, while employees also receive applicable allowances and benefits.

- Basic Pay: ₹18,000 per month
- Pay Scale: ₹18,000–₹56,900
- Dearness Allowance (DA): Applicable as per government rules; the Railway Board raised the DA rate to 60% of basic pay from January 1, 2026.
- Other Allowances: Employees may receive House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance and other admissible benefits.
- Additional Benefits: Railway employees also receive various service-related benefits and allowances according to applicable rules.

Age limit
The Railway Recruitment Board will specify the exact age limit in the official notification. However, candidates can expect the following age criteria:
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 33 years
- Age Relaxation: Reserved-category candidates will receive relaxation as per government rules.
- SC/ST Candidates: 5 years of relaxation
- OBC-NCL Candidates: 3 years of relaxation
- PwBD Candidates: Additional relaxation as applicable under government rules.
- Age Calculation: Candidates must meet the prescribed age criteria on the cut-off date mentioned in the official notification.
Application Fee
Candidates will have to pay the prescribed application fee while submitting the RRB Group D application form. However, the Railway Recruitment Board will confirm the fee structure for the new 2026-27 recruitment through its official notification. Based on the latest Level-1 recruitment, candidates can expect the following fee structure:
- General/UR, OBC and EWS: ₹500
- SC/ST, PwBD, Female, Transgender, Ex-Servicemen, Minority Communities and EBC: ₹250
- Candidates who fall under the ₹500 fee category can receive a refund of ₹400 after appearing in the CBT, subject to the applicable rules.
- Candidates who pay ₹250 can receive a refund of the ₹250 examination fee after appearing in the CBT.
- Candidates must pay the fee through the online payment methods specified by RRB.

Selection Process
The RRB Group D selection process will assess candidates through multiple stages. First, candidates will appear for the Computer Based Test (CBT). Next, shortlisted candidates will take the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). After that, RRB will conduct Document Verification and a Medical Examination before finalizing the selection.

RRB Group D Exam Pattern 2026-27
The CBT will contain 100 objective-type questions carrying 100 marks. Candidates will get 90 minutes to complete the test, while eligible PwBD candidates using a scribe will receive additional time. Furthermore, the exam will include 1/3 mark negative marking for every incorrect answer.
