The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) has announced a fresh recruitment drive for eligible Indian citizens through direct recruitment. The notification outlines multiple opportunities across different levels, offering candidates a chance to join one of the country’s leading medical and research institutions. Furthermore, applicants should carefully review the prescribed eligibility requirements, selection process, application guidelines and category-wise conditions before proceeding with their applications.

Eligibility Details
Applicants should check the required educational and professional criteria for each post before applying:
- Medical Officer: A recognised medical qualification under the applicable schedules of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, along with registration with a State Medical Council. Candidates must also have special training in Family Planning and Educational methods. A postgraduate degree or diploma in the concerned specialty will receive preference.
- Computer Programmer: A Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics with Statistics, Operations Research or Physics, or a degree in Engineering/Computer Science from a recognised university, along with one year of actual computer programming or computer operation experience. Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with Statistics, Physics or Statistics must have seven years of experience in electronic computer operation, including actual programming.
- Pharmacist Grade-II: Matriculation or equivalent qualification, a Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institution/board, and registration as a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948. A Pharmacy degree and relevant experience in dispensing or storing medicines will be desirable.
- Library Attendant Grade-I: Matriculation with Science, a Diploma in Library Science, and one year of experience handling books and journals in a reputed library.
- Animal Attendant: Matriculation or equivalent qualification, the ability to read and write in Hindi, English or Punjabi, and knowledge of cleaning and dusting. Experience in a civil/military hospital or relevant household/government department experience will be desirable.
- Barber: Matriculation qualification with at least two years of experience in the relevant field.
- Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III: Matriculation or equivalent qualification and knowledge of sweeping, dusting and cleaning. One year of relevant experience in a civil/military hospital, reputed hostel or government department will be desirable.
Salary Details
The selected candidates will receive pay according to the applicable 7th Central Pay Commission pay matrix:
- Medical Officer: Level-10 — ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 per month.
- Computer Programmer: Level-7 — ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400 per month.
- Pharmacist Grade-II: Level-5 — ₹29,200 to ₹92,300 per month.
- Library Attendant Grade-I: Level-3 — ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 per month.
- Animal Attendant: Level-1 — ₹18,000 to ₹56,900 per month.
- Barber: Level-1 — ₹18,000 to ₹56,900 per month.
- Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III: Level-1 — ₹18,000 to ₹56,900 per month.
Age limit
The age limit will be calculated as on the last date of submission of the online application, i.e., the crucial date for determining age eligibility.
- Medical Officer: 18 to 30 years
- Computer Programmer: 18 to 35 years
- Pharmacist Grade-II: 18 to 30 years
- Library Attendant Grade-I: 18 to 30 years
- Animal Attendant: 18 to 30 years
- Barber: 18 to 30 years
- Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III: 18 to 30 years
Age Relaxation
Age relaxation will be available to eligible candidates as per the applicable Government of India rules and will be calculated on the prescribed crucial date.
- SC/ST candidates: 5 years
- OBC candidates: 3 years
- PwBD candidates: 10 years
- PwBD + SC/ST candidates: 15 years
- PwBD + OBC candidates: 13 years
- Permanent employees of PGIMER: 10 years, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.
- Central Government Civilian Employees: Relaxation will apply subject to the required regular and continuous service conditions.
Application Fee
Applicants need to pay the prescribed application fee according to their category:
- PwBD candidates: No application fee
- SC/ST candidates: ₹800 + applicable transaction charges
- General/OBC/EWS candidates: ₹1,500 + applicable transaction charges
The fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card or Net Banking. PGIMER advises candidates to avoid making payment through UPI.
Selection Process
The recruitment authority will conduct the selection through a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by application scrutiny and document verification. However, the Group ‘A’ post will also include an interview.
- Computer Based Test (CBT): Candidates will appear for an objective-type CBT conducted in English. The exam will include negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
- Group A: The CBT will carry 85 marks, followed by an interview carrying 15 marks.
- Group ‘B’ & ‘C’: Candidates will appear for a 100-mark CBT, with no interview.
- Qualifying Marks: General/EWS candidates must secure at least 40%, while SC/ST/OBC candidates must secure 35%. PwBD candidates will follow the qualifying standard applicable to their category.
- Shortlisting: For posts without a skill test, the authority will shortlist 3 candidates per vacancy, plus ties. Where a skill test applies, it will shortlist 5 candidates per vacancy, plus ties.
- Application Scrutiny: PGIMER will examine the applications and uploaded documents of shortlisted candidates to verify their eligibility.
- Document Verification: Provisionally selected and waitlisted candidates will have to appear with their original certificates and required documents.
- Final Selection: For Group ‘B’ and ‘C’ posts, the authority will prepare the final merit based on CBT marks after eligibility and document verification. For Group ‘A’, it will consider the combined CBT and interview performance.

How to Apply
Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official PGIMER website. Candidates should follow these steps:
- Visit the official PGIMER website and open the Recruitment section.
- Select the recruitment notice for Advertisement No. PGI/RC/053/2026/2192.
- Complete the online registration using a valid personal email ID and mobile number.
- Log in with the User ID and password received after registration.
- Fill in the application form with personal details, educational qualifications, experience and other required information.
- Upload the required documents, including educational certificates, marksheets, category/experience certificates and other applicable documents.
- Upload the photograph in JPG/JPEG format (50–80 KB). The photograph should be taken on or after 1 June 2026 and should clearly show the candidate’s name and date of taking the photograph.
- Carefully check all the details entered in the application form before final submission, as changes will not be permitted after submission.
- Pay the applicable application fee through Debit Card, Credit Card or Net Banking.
- Submit the application form and take a printout/save a copy of the completed application for future reference.
Important: Candidates should upload clear and legible documents and ensure that every detail matches their original certificates. PGIMER can reject an application if the required information or documents are missing or incorrect.
