Salary Details

In addition to the basic pay, selected candidates will receive applicable IDA, HRA, perks and allowances under the company’s cafeteria approach. Furthermore, MECL provides benefits such as PF contribution, Group Performance Related Incentive, Group Medical Insurance, NPS, Group Personal Accident Insurance, Group Term Insurance, vehicle loan facility, and House Building Advance, subject to the applicable company rules.
Age limit
MECL will calculate the candidate’s age as on 01 September 2026, which serves as the prescribed cut-off date for determining age eligibility.
- Maximum Age Limit: 30 years for UR/EWS candidates.
- SC/ST Candidates: 5 years of relaxation in the upper age limit.
- OBC-NCL Candidates: 3 years of relaxation, subject to the prescribed conditions and a valid OBC-NCL certificate.
- PwD Candidates: 10 years for General candidates, 15 years for SC/ST candidates, and 13 years for OBC-NCL candidates.
- Ex-Servicemen: Age relaxation will apply as per the applicable Government of India rules.
- Retrenched Ex-Contingent Workmen of MECL: Up to 20 years of relaxation may apply.
- Internal Candidates: Up to 1 year of relaxation may be granted with the approval of the CMD, subject to the conditions specified by MECL.
Candidates should carefully verify their category-wise age relaxation and ensure that they meet the prescribed age criteria on the cut-off date.
Application Fee
Candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories need to pay an application fee of ₹500 through the prescribed online payment gateway. However, SC, ST, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, and Departmental candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.

Selection Process
MECL will conduct the recruitment through a series of stages. Moreover, the written test will carry 100% weightage, while the Skill/Trade Test will remain qualifying in nature.
- Screening of Applications: First, MECL will screen the online applications and classify candidates as Eligible or Not Eligible based on the details submitted in the application form.
- Written Test: Next, eligible candidates shortlisted through screening will appear for the written competitive examination. The test will carry 100% weightage in the final merit calculation. Furthermore, candidates must meet the prescribed category-wise cut-off:
- UR/OBC-NCL/EWS: 50%
- SC/ST: 45%
- PwD: Relaxed standard as per applicable Government guidelines.
- Document Verification: After the written test, MECL will shortlist candidates for document verification based on merit. Ordinarily, the organisation will call candidates in a ratio of up to 1:7 against the available vacancies, depending on the number of candidates in the merit pool.
- Skill Test/Trade Test: Candidates who successfully clear document verification will proceed to the Skill Test or Trade Test, wherever applicable. However, this stage will be qualifying in nature, meaning MECL will classify candidates as “Suitable” or “Not Suitable” based on their performance.
- Final Merit List: Finally, MECL will prepare the merit list based on the written test marks of candidates who qualify as “Suitable” in the Skill/Trade Test. Thus, the Skill/Trade Test will not add marks to the final merit score.
