Eligibility Details
- Candidates must pass Matriculation (10th Class) from a recognized board.
- Candidates should also possess an ITI certificate approved by NCVT or SCVT in relevant trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Diesel Mechanic, Electronics Mechanic, Turner, Wireman, Instrument Mechanic, Motor Vehicle Mechanic, Tractor Mechanic, or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic.
- Alternatively, candidates can apply if they hold a Diploma in Engineering in relevant disciplines like Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- Moreover, candidates who possess a Degree in Engineering in related trades or disciplines will also remain eligible to apply for the RRB ALP Recruitment 2026.

Selection Process
The Railway Recruitment Boards will conduct the selection process in multiple stages, and candidates must qualify each stage to move forward in the recruitment.
- Stage 1 – CBT 1 (Computer Based Test)
- Stage 2 – CBT 2 (Computer Based Test)
- Stage 3 – CBAT (Computer Based Aptitude Test)
- Stage 4 – Document Verification (DV)
- Stage 5 – Medical Examination (ME)
CBT 1 (Screening Test):
- Subjects include Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness
- Objective-type questions are asked
- The exam is qualifying in nature and used for shortlisting candidates
CBT 2 (Main Exam):
- Part A includes Mathematics, Reasoning, Basic Science & Engineering, and General Awareness
- Part B includes questions from relevant trade/technical discipline
- Part A marks are considered for shortlisting, while Part B is qualifying in nature
- The difficulty level is higher than CBT 1
CBAT (Aptitude Test):
- Conducted only for Assistant Loco Pilot posts
- Tests candidates’ mental alertness, decision-making, and reaction ability
- Candidates must score minimum qualifying marks in each test battery
- Marks are used in final merit preparation along with CBT 2 results
