The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Western Railway, has announced a new Sports Quota recruitment drive for eligible sportspersons. Through this recruitment, the railway aims to select talented players for various positions across different sports disciplines. Moreover, candidates who meet the prescribed sports achievement standards and other conditions can take part in the recruitment process. The selection will focus strongly on sports performance, game skills, physical fitness, and overall merit. Eligibility Details

Candidates should meet the prescribed educational requirements for the pay level they wish to apply for. The qualification criteria are as follows:

• Level 5/4: Candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
• Level 3/2: Candidates must have passed 12th standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized board. Alternatively, candidates with Matriculation plus Act Apprenticeship or Matriculation plus ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT can also apply.
• Level 1: Candidates must have passed 10th standard from a recognized board. Candidates with ITI, an equivalent qualification, or a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT are also eligible.
• Candidates waiting for the final result of the required qualification should not apply.

Salary Details

The selected candidates will receive salary according to the pay level assigned to the post. In addition, they will get other admissible allowances and benefits as per applicable Railway rules.

• Level 5/4: Pay Matrix Level 5/4
• Level 3/2: Pay Matrix Level 3/2
• Level 1: Pay Matrix Level 1

The Railway will determine the exact salary based on the post and applicable pay rules at the time of appointment.

Age limit

The Railway will calculate the candidate’s age as on January 1, 2027. Applicants must satisfy the following age criteria:

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 25 years
• Date of Birth: Candidates must have been born between January 1, 2002, and January 1, 2009, both dates inclusive.

Application Fee

Applicants need to pay the prescribed fee through the online payment gateway while submitting the application. The fee structure is as follows:

• General/Other Candidates: ₹500
• SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Women/Minority/EBC Candidates: ₹250
• Candidates who pay ₹500 will receive a ₹400 refund if they are found eligible and actually appear for the selection trial, after applicable bank charges.
• Candidates who pay ₹250 will receive a full refund if they are found eligible and appear for the selection trial, after applicable bank charges.
• The Railway will reject applications without successful fee payment.

Selection Process

The Railway Recruitment Cell will select candidates mainly on the basis of their sports performance, trial performance, and educational qualification. The recruitment process will include a Selection Trial followed by merit-based assessment.

During the Selection Trial, the authorities will assess game skill, physical fitness, and the coach’s observations. Candidates must score at least 25 out of 40 marks in the trial to qualify as FIT for further assessment.

The final merit will carry 100 marks, distributed as follows:

• Sports Achievement: 50 marks
• Game Skill, Physical Fitness & Coach’s Observation: 40 marks
• Educational Qualification: 10 marks

Candidates must achieve the prescribed overall minimum marks for their respective pay level:

• Level 5/4: 70 marks
• Level 3/2: 65 marks
• Level 1: 60 marks

Finally, the Railway will prepare the merit list based on the candidate’s overall performance. If two candidates secure equal marks, the authorities will give preference to the younger candidate.
