The recruitment authority has invited eligible applicants to participate in the selection process for 531 Clerk vacancies. Eligibility Details

Candidates must fulfil the following educational and skill-related requirements:

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or institution, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates must complete at least a 120-hour computer/IT course covering office productivity or desktop publishing applications from a government-recognised or ISO 9001-certified institution.
  • Candidates may also meet the computer requirement through a qualification equivalent to the ‘O’ Level certificate of DOEACC, Government of India.
  • Candidates must have Punjabi at the Matriculation level or an equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates must qualify the prescribed Punjabi Language Test at the Matriculation standard by securing at least 50% marks.

Salary Details

The selected candidates will receive the salary according to the prescribed pay structure. The detailed salary-related information is given below:

  • Pay Level: The Clerk post falls under Level-2 of the applicable pay structure.
  • Basic Pay: Selected candidates will receive a starting basic pay of ₹19,900 per month.
  • Pay Structure: The recruitment authority will determine the salary and other components according to the applicable government pay rules.
  • Allowances and Benefits: In addition to the basic pay, selected candidates will receive applicable allowances and service benefits as per the prevailing rules.
  • Career Progression: Employees can receive salary increments and other benefits during their service according to the applicable rules and regulations.

Age limit

The authority will calculate the candidate’s age as on 1 January 2026. Candidates must meet the prescribed age criteria on this cut-off date.

  • Minimum Age: Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
  • General Category: The maximum age limit is 37 years.
  • SC/BC Candidates: Candidates belonging to SC and BC categories can apply up to 42 years, subject to the applicable conditions.
  • Government Employees: State and Central Government employees can apply up to 45 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen: The authority will provide the applicable age limit and relaxation as per the relevant Ex-Servicemen rules.
  • Persons with Disabilities: Eligible candidates can avail of an upper age limit of 47 years, subject to the prescribed conditions.
  • Widows and Divorcees: Eligible widows, divorcees, and certain other specified categories of married women can receive age relaxation up to 40 years.

Application Fee

Candidates must pay the prescribed application fee according to their category. The fee details are as follows:

  • General / Freedom Fighter / Sportsperson: Candidates belonging to these categories must pay an application fee of ₹1,000.
  • SC / BC / EWS: Eligible candidates from these categories need to pay ₹250 as the application fee.
  • Ex-Servicemen and Dependents: Candidates in this category must pay ₹200.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PWD): Eligible PWD candidates need to pay an application fee of ₹500.
  • Fee Payment: Candidates must pay the applicable fee through the prescribed online payment mode while submitting the application.
  • Refund: The authority will not refund the application fee under any circumstances, and candidates cannot claim any fee waiver or exemption.

Selection Process

The recruitment authority will select candidates through multiple stages. The selection process includes:

  • Written Examination: Candidates will first appear for an objective-type written examination conducted in two parts, Part A and Part B.
  • Part A – Punjabi Language Test: This paper will assess Punjabi language proficiency at the Matriculation level. Candidates must secure at least 50% marks to qualify for the next stage.
  • Part B – Competitive Examination: The authority will use the marks obtained in Part B to prepare the merit list. Each question will carry 1 mark, while the examination will impose a negative marking of 1/4 mark for every incorrect answer.
  • Typing Test: Shortlisted candidates will have to qualify for a computer-based typing test in English and Punjabi at a speed of 30 words per minute. The Punjabi typing test will use the Unicode-compliant Raavi font.
  • Merit List: The authority will prepare the common merit list based on the Part B marks of candidates who qualify for the typing test.
  • Document Verification/Counselling: Finally, shortlisted candidates will attend counselling and document verification as required by the competent authority.
