Eligibility Details
The educational requirements vary according to the post. Candidates should check the specific qualification mentioned for the position they want to apply for.
- Engineering Officer Grade 1 (Electrical): Candidates should hold a First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering. They must also have a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025, or 2026 in Electrical Engineering.
- Engineering Officer Grade 1 (Civil): Candidates should have a First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025, or 2026 in Civil Engineering.
- Engineering Assistant (Electrical): Candidates should possess a First Class 3-year Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Technology along with 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Engineering Assistant (Mechanical): Candidates should possess a First Class 3-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Technology along with 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Scientific Assistant: Candidates should have a First Class B.Sc. degree in Chemistry and 5 years of relevant experience.
- Technician Grade 1 (Electrical): Candidates should have an ITI Trade Certificate in Electrical.
- Technician Grade 1 (Mechanical): Candidates should have an ITI Trade Certificate in Mechanical.
- Technical Attendant Grade 1: Candidates should have passed Matriculation or an equivalent examination from a recognized board. An ITI Trade Certificate of 2-year duration in Electrical or Mechanical is desirable.
- Assistant Grade II: Candidates should hold a First Class BA, B.Sc., B.Com, BBA, BBM, or BCA degree from a recognized university. In addition, they must possess a minimum Grade-B certificate in the NIELIT Basic Computer Course (BCC), valid on the closing date of application.
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) Grade 1: Candidates should have passed Matriculation or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
Salary Details
CPRI offers different pay levels according to the responsibilities and requirements of each post. The post-wise salary structure under the 7th Central Pay Commission is as follows:
- Engineering Officer Grade 1 (Electrical/Civil): ₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400 per month (Pay Level 7)
- Engineering Assistant (Electrical/Mechanical): ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 per month (Pay Level 6)
- Scientific Assistant: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 per month (Pay Level 6)
- Assistant Grade II: ₹25,500 – ₹81,100 per month (Pay Level 4)
- Technician Grade 1 (Electrical/Mechanical): ₹19,900 – ₹63,200 per month (Pay Level 2)
- Technical Attendant Grade 1: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900 per month (Pay Level 1)
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) Grade 1: ₹18,000 – ₹56,900 per month (Pay Level 1)
In addition to the basic pay, selected employees can receive benefits such as leave, LTC, and medical facilities according to the applicable CPRI and Government of India rules.
Age limit
For this recruitment, CPRI will calculate the candidate’s age as on the closing date of the online application, i.e. 12 October 2026. The minimum age for all posts is 18 years, while the maximum age differs according to the post.
- Engineering Officer Grade 1 (Electrical/Civil): Maximum 30 years
- Scientific Assistant: Maximum 35 years
- Engineering Assistant (Electrical/Mechanical): Maximum 35 years
- Technician Grade 1 (Electrical/Mechanical): Maximum 28 years
- Technical Attendant Grade 1: Maximum 30 years
- Assistant Grade II: Maximum 30 years
- Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) Grade 1: Maximum 25 years
CPRI will provide upper-age relaxation to eligible candidates as per the applicable Government of India rules.

Selection Process
The selection process varies by post, and CPRI will use GATE scores, CBTs, and post-specific skill or trade tests wherever applicable.
- Engineering Officer Grade 1: CPRI will prepare the merit list based on the valid GATE score.
- Engineering Assistant: Candidates will appear for a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by a job-specific practical skill test.
- Scientific Assistant: Candidates will undergo a CBT and a job-specific practical skill test.
- Technician Grade 1: CPRI will consider CBT performance, while candidates must also qualify in the prescribed Trade Test.
- Technical Attendant Grade 1: CPRI will select candidates based on their performance in the CBT.
- Assistant Grade II: CPRI will consider candidates’ CBT performance for selection.
- MTS Grade 1: Candidates will take a CBT and must also qualify in the prescribed Trade/Proficiency Test.
In case of a tie in the CBT or valid GATE score, CPRI will give preference in the merit order to the candidate who is older by date of birth.
