Eligibility Details
- Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) or equivalent examination from a recognized board or institution.
- Applicants who possess higher qualifications can also apply for this recruitment.
- Moreover, candidates having Intermediate (12th Class) qualification may get preference as it is mentioned as a desirable qualification in the official notification.
Salary Details
- Selected candidates will receive salary under Pay Level-1 of the Pay Matrix.
- The pay scale will be ₹18,000 to ₹56,900 per month.
- Moreover, the approximate total monthly salary will be around ₹33,840 including allowances.
- In addition, candidates will get benefits like Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), Medical Benefits, Pension, LTC, and other government facilities as per CSIR rules.

- The age limit will be calculated as on 15 June 2026.

Selection Process
The selection process for CSIR-NIIST MTS Recruitment 2026 will include two stages. First, the institute will conduct a Trade Test, and after that, qualified candidates will appear for the Written Examination.
1. Trade Test
- Initially, CSIR-NIIST will shortlist eligible candidates based on the details submitted in the online application form.
- Afterward, shortlisted candidates will attend the Trade Test.
- The Trade Test will check the candidate’s practical skills and ability to perform daily job-related work.
- Moreover, the test may include tasks related to file handling, office assistance, cleaning and maintenance work, carrying documents, guest house duties, garden maintenance, vehicle upkeep, canteen work, and other assigned activities.
- Candidates must qualify in the Trade Test to become eligible for the Written Examination.
- However, the marks of the Trade Test will not decide the final merit list.
2. Written Examination
- Candidates who qualify in the Trade Test will appear for the Written Exam.
- The written test will be OMR-based objective type examination.
- Furthermore, the exam will contain multiple-choice questions from four subjects.

- The questions will be available in English, Hindi, and Malayalam, except the English Language section.
Final Merit List
- Finally, CSIR-NIIST will prepare the merit list based only on the marks obtained in the Written Examination.
