Eligibility Details
Candidates must meet the required educational qualifications according to the apprenticeship post they want to apply for. The required qualifications are as follows:
- Trade Apprentice: Candidates must have passed ITI in the relevant trade from a Government-recognized institute.
- Graduate Apprentice (Engineering): Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech or equivalent) in the relevant engineering discipline from a Government-recognized university or institute.
- Technician Apprentice (Engineering): Candidates must hold a Diploma in Engineering in the relevant discipline from a Government-recognized institute.
- Graduate Apprentice (Non-Engineering): Candidates with BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, or B.Sc Nursing are eligible for the respective apprenticeship posts.
- Diploma Apprentice (Medical & Allied Fields): Candidates with GNM, Diploma in Physiotherapy, DMLT, DRT, DXT, DOTT, D. Pharmacy, or PGDCA (for Data Entry Operator) can apply for the relevant posts.
- Candidates must have completed their qualifying examination as regular students.
- Only candidates who passed the qualifying examination in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible.
- Candidates awaiting their final results are not eligible to apply.

Salary Details
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend according to their apprenticeship category. The stipend details are as follows:

Note: For Graduate and Technician Apprentices, 50% of the stipend will be paid by SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant, while the remaining 50% will be transferred through BOPT (Board of Practical Training) via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) mode, as per the prescribed Government norms.
Age limit

Selection Process
The selection process for SAIL Rourkela Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is simple and completely merit-based. Candidates do not have to appear for a written examination. The selection process includes the following stages:
- Online Registration: Candidates must first register on the NAPS or NATS portal, depending on the apprenticeship category.
- Walk-in Process: After successful registration, eligible candidates must attend the walk-in process on the scheduled date and time.
- Merit-Based Shortlisting: The merit list will be prepared by giving:
- 30% weightage to the marks obtained in Class 10.
- 70% weightage to the marks obtained in the ITI, Diploma, or Degree qualifying examination, as applicable.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce all original documents along with self-attested copies for verification.
- Medical Fitness Test: Finally, candidates must submit a medical fitness certificate issued by a Government Hospital before joining the apprenticeship training.
