The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has announced a recruitment drive under the Strengthening of Environmental Regulators (SER) Phase-III Project on River Ganga. Eligibility Details
Candidates must meet the prescribed educational and other eligibility requirements for their respective posts. The post-wise qualification is given below:
- Scientist-D: First-class Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science or First-class Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering/Technology disciplines. Candidates must also fulfill the prescribed publication or technical report criteria.
- Scientist-C: First-class Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science or First-class Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering/Technology disciplines, along with the prescribed publication or technical report criteria.
- Scientist-B: First-class Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science or First-class Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering/Technology disciplines, plus a valid GATE score of 90% or above percentile or NET-JRF qualification.
- Assistant Manager (Finance): First-class Master’s degree in Commerce with Finance & Accounting/Taxation, CA, or MBA in Finance & Accounting.
- Administrative Assistant: First-class Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent. Working knowledge of computers is required, while a first-class postgraduate degree is desirable.
- Scientific Assistant (SA): First-class Master’s degree in Environmental Science/Natural Science or First-class Bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering/Technology disciplines, plus a valid GATE score of 90% or above percentile or NET-JRF qualification.
- Taxonomist: First-class M.Sc. degree. A Master’s degree in Botany or Zoology with at least 75% marks is desirable. Candidates must also have a valid GATE score of 90% or above percentile or NET-JRF qualification and meet the prescribed publication criteria.
- Data Entry Operator: First-class Bachelor’s degree in Science or BCA. Candidates must also qualify the prescribed MS Office and typing skill test.
- Field Assistant: 10+2 in Science with at least 55% marks. Candidates must have knowledge of water/wastewater sampling and sample preservation.
Salary Details
The selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly salary as per their respective posts:
- Scientist-D: ₹1,71,597 per month
- Scientist-C: ₹1,48,997 per month
- Scientist-B: ₹1,25,380 per month
- Assistant Manager (Finance): ₹1,19,272 per month
- Administrative Assistant: ₹77,654 per month
- Scientific Assistant: ₹77,654 per month
- Taxonomist: ₹65,031 per month
- Data Entry Operator: ₹57,498 per month
- Field Assistant: ₹38,741 per month
Age limit
CPCB has prescribed only an upper age limit for all posts. The age will be calculated as on September 7, 2026, which is the last date to submit the application.
- Scientist-D: Up to 50 years
- Scientist-C: Up to 45 years
- Scientist-B: Up to 35 years
- Assistant Manager (Finance): Up to 35 years
- Administrative Assistant: Up to 35 years
- Scientific Assistant: Up to 35 years
- Taxonomist: Up to 35 years
- Data Entry Operator: Up to 32 years
- Field Assistant: Up to 27 years

Selection Process
CPCB will select candidates through document verification and an interview. If applications are high, the board may shortlist candidates through additional screening criteria.
- Document Verification: CPCB will verify educational qualifications, experience certificates, mark sheets, and other required documents.
- Screening/Shortlisting: If necessary, CPCB may shortlist candidates based on a written test, marks, relevant experience, higher qualifications, or other suitable criteria.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will appear for an interview before the Selection Committee.
- Final Selection: CPCB will consider the candidate’s performance and eligibility after completing the verification and selection process.
- Interview Expenses: Candidates will not receive any TA/DA or accommodation for attending the interview.
