PSSSB has announced a major recruitment drive for candidates seeking government job opportunities in various Group D posts. Through this recruitment, eligible candidates can apply for 1,401 vacancies available across multiple departments. Moreover, the recruitment offers a Level-1 pay scale of ₹18,000 to ₹56,900, making it a valuable opportunity for candidates who have completed their matriculation. Eligibility Details
Candidates must meet the required educational criteria before they apply for the Group D posts.
- Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th standard) from a recognized educational institution.
- Candidates must have studied Punjabi as one of the subjects at the matriculation level.
- The matriculation requirement with Punjabi does not apply to blind candidates, riot/terrorist-affected persons, and candidates appointed as Sweeper.
- Candidates must qualify the Punjabi Language Test at the matriculation standard.
- Candidates must secure at least 50% marks in the qualifying Punjabi Language Test.
- Candidates who fail to obtain the required 50% marks in the Punjabi Language Test will not qualify for the final merit list.
Salary Details
Selected candidates will receive a government pay package under the prescribed Level-1 pay structure.
- The pay scale for the Group D posts is ₹18,000 to ₹56,900.
- The posts follow the Level-1 pay scale under the 7th Pay Commission.
- Candidates will receive the initial pay and applicable allowances as per the rules and instructions issued by the Punjab Government.
- The final salary will include applicable allowances and benefits according to the post and prevailing government norms.
Age limit
Candidates must fall within the prescribed age range, which will be calculated as on January 1, 2026.
- The minimum age is 18 years.
- The maximum age for General category candidates is 37 years.
- Punjab-resident SC and BC candidates can claim an upper-age limit of 42 years.
- Eligible State/Central Government employees can get relaxation up to 45 years, subject to the prescribed conditions.
- Punjab-resident Divyang candidates can claim an upper-age limit of 47 years.
- Widows, divorcees, and certain other eligible married women can get relaxation up to 40 years.
- Punjab-resident Ex-Servicemen will receive age benefits according to the applicable Punjab Ex-Servicemen recruitment rules.
Application Fee
Candidates must pay the application fee according to their respective category before completing the application process.
- General / Freedom Fighter / Sportsperson: ₹1,000
- SC / BC / EWS: ₹250
- Ex-Servicemen and Dependents: ₹200
- Divyang (Physically Handicapped): ₹500
- The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
- The recruitment authority does not provide a fee waiver to candidates.
Selection Process
PSSSB will select candidates through an objective-type written examination, followed by document verification and counselling.
- The written examination will contain two parts: Part A and Part B.
- Part A will test candidates on Punjabi Language at the Matriculation level.
- Candidates must score at least 50% marks in Part A to qualify.
- Part A will remain qualifying in nature, so its marks will not determine the final merit.
- Part B will determine the candidates’ merit based on their performance.
- Each question in Part B will carry 1 mark.
- The exam will include negative marking of 1/4 mark for every wrong answer.
- PSSSB will prepare the common merit list on the basis of Part-B marks.
- Shortlisted candidates will then appear for document verification and counselling.
- Finally, PSSSB will recommend eligible candidates to the concerned departments according to the merit list and available category-wise posts.

How to Apply
Candidates can apply for the recruitment online through the official PSSSB website by following these steps:
- Visit the official PSSSB website and open the online application section.
- Click on the “Apply Online” link for Group D Recruitment 2026.
- New candidates should complete the registration process and create their User ID and password.
- Log in using the registered credentials and enter the required personal, educational, and other details.
- Upload the required passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
- Upload the necessary documents, including the 10th certificate and other required educational certificates.
- Review all the information carefully because no correction will be allowed after submission.
- Pay the applicable application fee through the online payment facility.
- Submit the completed application form after successful fee payment.
- Download and keep a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.
Note: Candidates who already applied during the original application period do not need to submit a fresh application.
