SSC CHSL Eligibility Details
- Candidates must pass the 10+2 (12th standard) examination from a recognized board or university.
- Moreover, candidates must possess a Science stream with Mathematics when they apply for Data Entry Operator (DEO) posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and the Ministry of Culture.
- However, candidates from any stream can apply for LDC/JSA and other DEO posts in different departments.
- In addition, candidates must complete their educational qualification before the closing date of application.
- Furthermore, candidates must present valid educational documents during the verification stage to confirm their eligibility.
Salary Details
- SSC CHSL selected candidates receive salary under the 7th Pay Commission.
- Moreover, salary depends on the post and pay level.
- LDC/JSA posts fall under Pay Level-2 with a pay scale of ₹19,900–₹63,200.
- Similarly, DEO posts come under Pay Level-4 with a pay scale of ₹25,500–₹81,100.
- In some departments, DEO Grade ‘A’ posts fall under Pay Level-5 with a pay scale of ₹29,200–₹92,300.

Selection Process
SSC conducts the SSC CHSL 2026 selection in two stages: Tier-I and Tier-II (including Skill/Typing Test).
Tier-I (Computer Based Examination)
- SSC conducts Tier-I as a screening test.
- It includes 100 objective questions for a total of 200 marks.
- Moreover, SSC divides the paper into four sections:
- Reasoning – 25 questions (50 marks)
- General Awareness – 25 questions (50 marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude – 25 questions (50 marks)
- English Language – 25 questions (50 marks)
- Candidates get 60 minutes to complete the exam.
- In addition, SSC applies 0.50 negative marking for each wrong answer.
Tier-II (Computer Based Examination + Skill/Typing Test)
- SSC conducts Tier-II in two sessions on the same day.
Session I (Objective Examination – 2 hours 15 minutes)
- SSC includes three sections in Session I:
- Section I: Mathematical Abilities (30 questions) + Reasoning & General Intelligence (30 questions)
- Section II: English Language (40 questions) + General Awareness (20 questions)
- Section III: Computer Knowledge (15 questions)

Session II (Skill/Typing Test)
- SSC conducts the Skill Test for Data Entry Operator posts.
