Eligibility Details

Candidates must meet the following educational and eligibility requirements:

  • Candidates must hold a Graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India.
  • The bank will also accept an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Candidates must have completed their graduation before registering for the recruitment.
  • Applicants must possess a valid mark sheet or degree certificate showing their graduation status and marks.

Salary Details

The Local Bank Officer post offers a basic pay of ₹48,480 per month under the Scale-I officer pay structure. In addition, selected candidates will receive various allowances and benefits as per Indian Overseas Bank rules.

  • Post: Local Bank Officer (JMGS-I)
  • Basic Pay: ₹48,480 per month
  • Pay Scale: ₹48,480 – 2,000/7 – ₹62,480 – 2,340/2 – ₹67,160 – 2,680/7 – ₹85,920
  • Additional Benefits: DA, HRA, CCA and other applicable allowances/perquisites
  • Probation Period: 2 years of active service
  • Service Bond: ₹2 lakh for a minimum service period of 3 years.

Age limit

The bank will calculate the candidate’s age as on 01 August 2026.

  • Minimum Age: 20 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years
  • Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02 August 1996 and not later than 01 August 2006.
  • The bank will provide age relaxation to eligible reserved-category candidates as per Government of India rules.

Application Fee

Candidates need to pay the following application fee while submitting the online application:

  • SC/ST/PwBD Candidates: ₹175
  • All Other Candidates: ₹850

Selection Process

Indian Overseas Bank will select candidates through the following stages:

1. Online Examination

The first stage will consist of an objective-type online examination. It will contain 140 questions for 200 marks, with a total duration of 3 hours. The bank will provide separate timings for each section.

Candidates will face 1/4th negative marking for every wrong answer, while unanswered questions will not attract any penalty. Furthermore, the bank will not impose sectional qualifying marks. However, candidates must secure at least 35% aggregate marks for the unreserved category and 30% for reserved categories.

2. Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the required local language, including reading, writing, and speaking. However, candidates who studied the specified local language as a subject in Class 10 or 12 and provide the relevant marksheet/certificate will not need to appear for the LPT.

3. Personal Interview

After qualifying in the online examination and LPT, wherever applicable, candidates will appear for the Personal Interview. The bank will prepare the merit list based on online examination marks, subject to the candidate qualifying in the applicable LPT.
